No. 26 - Motori V6

Racing cars with V6 front engine

In this issue begins the analysis of the V6 engines with different angles between the cylinder rows: on the cover there is one of the best looking cars with this engine, that is the F1 monoposto of 1960. The photo is period and shows the charm (and the defects) of age.

Ferrari Story begins in this issue the research into the development of the Vee 6 engine in its many variants, and particularyly referred to the period that spans from 1957 to 1960, when the engine was exclusively front mounted.

It was a period of tremendous activity in design, when the racing department was engaged in F1, in F2 and also in the sports cars races in several classes, not forgetting the Monza Indianapolis challenge and naturally the development of the GT cars.

To paraphrase Churchill we could say that never so few did produce so much.

No. 27 - V6 posteriore

Single seater and sport cars with rear V6

The cover photo illustrates two magnificent specimens from the rear-engined Dino Sport range, one powered by a carburetor-fuelled engine (the berlinetta) and one with injection fuel feed.

Ferrari Story enters its seventh year of life with this issue. It made its debut in 1984 with two 16-page issues and since than it has continued to appear regularly in its current 32-page form. Compared to other publications, 32 pages may not seem much. The one crucial difference is that each and every page is about the story of Ferrari, with no room taken up by advertisements.

Having managed to keep the price of our magazine unaltered for years, we have now been forced to increase it to keep abreast of the rising prices for all the items it takes to produce our magazine: we apologise to our readers for this and feel confident they will understand.

No. 28 - Dino GT

The "small Ferrari" with the V6 engine

On the cover: a Dino 246 GTS shows total elegance of the Pininfarina design. More photos of the same car on pages 28 and 29.

Ferrari Story offers in this issue an hitherto unpublished set of information on the Dino GT, from its inception to the production of the car. So is completed the chapter of the Ferrari cars with a V6 engine that were also described in the issues 26 and 27.

The program for future issues comprises chapters devoted to two very important coachbuilders in the history of Ferrari, namely Sergio Scaglietti and Alfredo Vignale. Then the Story will continue with chapters on the technicalities of the Granturismo cars with engines larger than the classic three litres, the diffent periods of the Formula 1 up to the turbo era and the return to the aspirated engine.

No. 29 - Sport e GT

The cars with the big V12 of the 50's and 60's

The cover depicts a unique car: the 375 Plus, number 3 in the 1954 Le Mans 24 hours. Numbers 4 and 5 had the same mechanicals but different bodies. The car on the cover was photographed after a meticulous restoration job and belongs to Jacques Swaters, a real Ferrari tan and the Company's representative in Belgium.

Ferrari Story just about completes the cycle of publications begun in 1984 with the blessing of Enzo Ferrari who allowed us to use his logo as a banner and promised that his engineers would help us verify our information.

Many things have changed in the ensuring years. Sadly, Enzo Ferrari has now been dead for five years. And the Ferrari annual has reappeared, produced by the same people who created and produce Ferrari Story.

It was our own decision never to admit advertising, out of our whole-hearted respect for the world's most famous cars and the magazine could not have been published without the financial assistance of Motor Italia. Any future editions will have to be astablished on some other economic basis.

This issue will be followed by another listing errata, indices, a chronological list of models we have not yet described in detail as well as a list of back numbers still available.

No. 30 - 1994

333 SP - The Ferrari Idea - F 512 M - Ferrari cars from '47 to '60

The cover depicts the F333 SP a car all new that means the return of Ferrari into the field of the competition sport cars. In this issue we describe the Berlin exhibition and the latest cars seen in 1994 but we can assure readers that new types will be presented, at least one every year.

We also publish in cronological order all the types of Ferrari cars ever built, after a research that has taken years and, we hope, is complete and accurate.

Ferrari is a magic name: the automobile markets have seen crisis coming and going but the demand for cars with the "prancing horse" emblem never slow down.

The secret is in the name but undoubtly it is in the product: the cars are continuously improved by technicians who are proud of their work and of the tradition they keep.

As time goes by a decreasing number of customers who buy these cars had the luck of "knowing" the living Ferrari through his writing, his interviews and his famous verbal fights: Ferrari Story aims at keeping alive the memory of the man by means of his accomplishments which are so big as to require volumes.
