No. 16 - Prototipo

408

PPG

Scaglietti

GTO Evoluzione

On the cover the Ferrari "Pace Car", made for the American company PPG with a body designed and built by the Torinese research centre I.DE.A. S.p.A. Institute, photographed in front of the old office of Mr. Ferrari. It is a very special car, in as much as it has special safety and signalling fittings for racing, but has, at the same time, characteristics suitable for grand touring.

Ferrari Story with this issue reaches the end of the fourth year of circulation in these 16 issues we think we have offered the enthusiast a lot of interesting and, above all, unedited material both from the point of view of the photographs and of the informatio. It is only natural to set one's sights even higher, and with this is mind we will endevour to do more and to do better: as the readers have realised each issue contains a single topic, and these can be grouped in three sections, i.e. the history of Ferrari, the new models, and ferrariana, Among the latter we include also the models of every type and size, and one of the future issues will be devoted to them.

No. 17 - ... ho dedicato ...

Special issue after the death of Enzo Ferrari

This is a special issue, a very special one: it is dedicated to the memory of Enzo Ferrari with words and photos to remember Him by. The cover pictures was taken at Monza: the back cover shows perhaps the finest victory of His cars again at Monza at the Italian G.P. of September 11th, 1988 (photo Orsi, courtesy Autosprint).

The photos, mostly hitherto unpublished, are from the archives of the Museo dell'Automobile di Torino, Cassano, Zagari and Rogliatti.

Ferrari is no longer with us: he went silently on 14 August, so silently that it doesn't seem true. Only after having seen again with his son Piero the empty office, the barred windows of his house and the tomb, the ultimate proof, was I able to be convinced. But his cars will continue to proudly bear the "Cavallino" emblem around the world and will continue to win races, like they did on Sunday 11 September.

For everything that Enzo Ferrari did and which was so well summed up in his own words on the cover, I have just one word to say: Thanks.

No. 18 - Modellismo

Ferrari model cars being built in Italy in 1989

The cover photo of this issue devoted to the Italian makers of Ferrari models in activity represents the continuing history: it shows some of the rarest models no longer in production and which have become antiques such as the 500 F2 "Toschi" or the MOVO model of the same car; the third model is a very rare and rather mysterious rendering of the 312 T2 built around a bottle whose neck can be reached by detaching the rear axle.

Ferrari Story publishes an issue dedicated to the models produced by Italy by every manufacturer in activity and in any scale or type.

Due to the huge amount of material, a choice was necessary and it was necessary to postpone the description of the Italian models no longer in production and of the models made outside Italy. Meanwhile the idea of a big book on the matter becomes fascinating.

We spared no effort to contact all manufacturers both big and small; we apologize if we missed someone; we invite them and also those which did not yet answer our query, to contact us for inclusion in a future issue.

No. 19 - Mondial t

From the first Mondial of 1953 to the 1989 type

The cover picture shows the new Mondial "t" models coupé and cabriolet and was taken on the Ferrari Fiorano test track; as usual the design is by Pininfarina.

Ferrari Story offers to the readers of this issue the accurate and complete description of the new model Mondial "t" which represents the evolution of the four seater with the 8 cylinder engine.

This is the first new model to leave the factory of Maranello after the demise of its Founder, but certainly this model and the other that will follow it, maintains all the characteristics that Enzo Ferrari wanted his cars to possess: because it is unchanged the philosophy of the constant search for styling perfection and mechanical excellency.

No. 20 - Da 125 a 250

The V12 engine from 1.5 to 3 litres capacity

The cover picture shows a wonderful berlinetta Touring on the 212 chassis, this being one of the models that bridged the gap between the original 125 engine and the 250: the latter number has identified the most fabulous Ferrari of all time.

Ferrari as a name and trademark has well surpassed any other myth or legend in the automobile world. The search for old models as well as the literature produced by the company has become frantic, therefore increasing the upsurge of the prices.

Regarding the documentation this magazine continues to publish firsthand information without any advertising inserts, such as it was the original program approved by Enzo Ferrari in 1984.
